Beaches and Islands in and around Samui



Beaches


Bang Po Beach, Ban Tai
are located in the north of Samui. It is a very quiet part of Samui with many small beaches scattered along the coast. Most of the accommodation found here are private villas and houses   
* Location : North coast of Samui

Bangmakham Beach | Lipa Noi | Taling Ngam
are located at the west coast of Samui. Small, uninhabited beaches with crystal clear waters, perfect for relaxing beach holidays and snorkeling. From here you have the best sunset views.  
* Location : West coast of Samui

Big Buddha Beach
Located in the Northeast of Samui with smooth sand, good swimming preferences and safe for children. This area is quiet but has everything to offer like restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities. The nightlife of Chaweng is just a 15min drive away. From here you have fantastic views over the Big Buddha and Koh Phangan.

Bophut Beach
Located in the north of Samui. Bophut consists of the Fisherman's Village and the beaches west of it. The beach at the village is small and not so suitable for swimming as there are many tour and diving boats going from here to other islands. At the village you will find many restaurants and shops as well as cafes and bars.   
* Location : North east coast of Samui

Chaweng Noi Beach
is the longest and most famous one with very smooth sand and clear water. With plenty of restaurants, discotheques, bars and shops it is the main tourist center and nightlife area. Most hotels and resorts are located here.   

Chaweng Noi | Between Chaweng & Lamai (Coral Cove)
Chaweng Noi is the quieter part in the south of Chaweng but still within walking distance. Coral Cove has small beaches and is good for snorkeling. From there it is only a 5 minute ride to Chaweng or Lamai beaches. Hua Thanon has some upper class accommodation but the sea is shallow and not suitable for swimming.  

Choengmon Beach | Baan Plai Laem | Samrong Bay | T
are located in the North-East of Samui. These are the more quiet areas offering many private villas and houses as well as all levels of hotels and resorts. These places are perfect for relaxing but within 10 minutes you can reach the bustling area of Chaweng for entertainment and shopping.  
* Location : North east coast of Samui

Laem Set | Laem Sor | Thong Tanote
Quiet shallow beaches with views to the neighboring islands and the mainland. Mostly 4 and 5 star accommodation can be found here. The south coast is very relaxing and there is no shopping or nightlife nearby though it is only a 20min. drive to Lamai or 30min to Chaweng.  
* Location : South coast of Samui

Lamai Beach / Hinta Hinyai
Lamai beach is the second largest tourist center. The beach is a little bit more rough and the water is deeper. It's an excellent location for swimming and has a well-known nightlife. Lamai can be discovered by walking as the area is not as large as Chaweng. Hinta Hinyai is at the southern end of Lamai and famous for its strangely shaped rock formations.   

Maenam Beach
is located in the north of Samui with smooth sand and good swimming preferences. Maenam beach is perfect for families with small children as the water is shallow and there is no noise from nightlife or traffic.
